A Parametric Pavillion

“The Swarm” is a free-standing, sculptural pavilion; its design was inspired by a flock of birds taking wing. Its overall shape consists of individual, parametrically designed modules, which combine to play with density, light and shadow. Its 210 different “birds” are made of milled and folded Alucobond panels and held together entirely by bolted connections. The project, created by students in collaboration with assistants from the Chair of Emerging Technologies at the Technical University of Munich, was loaned to Red Bull's Hangar-7 in Salzburg.
