A Passion for Wings:

Events that changed the world

When Hangar-7 opened in 2003, it marked the 100th anniversary of an event that changed the world.

On 17 December 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, the Wright brothers Wilbur and Orville became the first people in the history of mankind to keep a motorised, steered aircraft in the air for a short period.
Surviving photographs show us the true greatness of these men, whose brilliant achievements we are still benefiting from today – such as in the form of modern aircraft, many of which are much longer than the total distance of 36 metres covered by the brothers on their first flight. Take this opportunity to follow the steps that led up to this monumental event in a unique photo exhibition at Hangar-7.
