“Turbulence”

Edition 6 presented contemporary art from South Africa. Three female and six male artists exhibited sculptures, objects, installations and paintings in Hangar-7, which for the first time was extensively structured by the different media on display. South African artists are in a challenging situation right now, which prompts them to address critical issues, e.g. the old and new political conflicts, the countless deaths the regional AIDS pandemic causes, the escalating criminal violence, the ever-increasing social inequalities, as well as global developments.
