Kainrath & Lorenzi
At Hangar-7 in Salzburg, works by two very different artists will be exhibited together. The work of internationally renowned Tyrolean caricaturist Dietmar Kainrath was showcased at Hangar-7 7 times during his lifetime and is now followed posthumously by a joint exhibition with Ötztal-born photographer Ernst Lorenzi.
Dietman Kainrath died this year on 28 May. The project had been planned for a long time and the designated works were all finished, culminating now in this paired exhibition. The idea was for Ernst Lorenzi to select quirky everyday photos that the caricaturist would then interpret in his own inimitable way using his media and his viewpoint. A total of 23 pairs will be on display at Hangar-7 from 7 November 2018 to 10 March 2019. Specially designed lighting circuits will put the photos and caricatures in the spotlight. Transmitted light will be used to display the A3 format photos in all their clarity, while extensive incident light will further enhance the original drawings, emphasising them even more. Dietmar Kainrath is famous for using just a few well-placed lines to accurately illustrate a situation and for putting a smile on the observer’s face. Ernst Lorenzi is a sports and nature photographer from Sölden in the Ötztal region of Tyrol who always has a camera handy to capture moments of everyday life.
