House of Arts
House of Arts currently presents an exhibition entitled "Summer Vibes".
On display are artworks, such as those of Lara Bloy, born in Toulouse in 1982, whose figurative paintings place people at the centre without showing portraits. Her protagonists never look out of the artwork but are either turned away or absorbed in themselves. The perspective from which Lara Bloy shows her subjects is also sometimes unusual. Her pictorial compositions are based on her archive of photographs. With Oliver Masmonteil, born in Romilly-sur-Seine in 1973, we are showing another series of works from his marvelous oeuvre. Nature, the reflections of light, cloudy moods and the occasional immersion in a deep illusionary space, the paintings are artworks per se, which reveal echoes of the art history of French landscape painting as well as the artist's own experience of nature - from the plateaus of Millevaches to the memories of the wheat fields and the expanse of the horizon on the Marne, where his grandparents lived, the Mediterranean landscapes of Seyne-sur-Mer, and the impressions he takes with him from his travels. Get in the mood for summer with the paintings of Duncan Wylie, the Zimbabwean-born artist who is the epitome of gestural style and colour and whose pictures capture the chaos of existence in a nutshell.
These and other artists can be seen at Hangar-7 until July 19, 2024.
