Wings for Life
From March 27th to May 8th, we will be showcasing the most beautiful snapshots from the past ten years of the Wings for Life World Run – the biggest running event in the world.
The Wings for Life World Run is different from other running events. Since 2014, participants have been running, walking, or rolling for spinal cord research. They start across the globe at the exact same time, 11:00 AM UTC.
Due to the time difference, some start in the blazing midday sun, while others begin in the middle of the night with headlamps, as in Australia. People participate everywhere: in the desert of Dubai, for example, along the coast of Brazil, or in the Swiss mountains.
At the Wings for Life World Run, it doesn't matter whether you run two, ten, or thirty kilometers. Here, everyone is a finisher because there is no traditional finish line. Instead, thirty minutes after the start, the so-called “Catcher Car” sets out to overtake one participant after another. Participants can decide whether they want to participate in one of the major Flagship Runs or via the Wings for Life World Run App.
The best part: 100% of the entry fees go towards promising research projects around the world. Participants of the Wings for Life World Run are all running together for the ultimate goal: to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
The next Wings for Life World Run will take place on May 5th, 2024.
